Edward (Ed) Lynn Bezona

Edward (Ed) Lynn Bezona, age 56, of Manter, Kansas died Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in rural Stanton County, Kansas. He was born January 26, 1960, in Syracuse, Kansas, the son of Richard Edward and Joyce Ann (Morris) Bezona.

Ed attended Manter Grade School and graduated in 1978 from Stanton County High School. He continued his education at Garden City Community College graduating with a degree in Law Enforcement in 1980. He began his law enforcement career at Garden City Police Department in 1981. Ed moved back to Johnson in 1982 and worked at the Stanton County Sheriff’s Department for 33 years; serving as a deputy, Under Sheriff, and retired as the Stanton County Sheriff in 2013. He also served as an EMT and volunteer fireman. Ed was a cowboy, farmer, rancher, and worked at numerous feedyards, and participated in rodeos and Cowboy Action Shooting. He was also the owner of Nightlinger Cafe in Manter. Ed supported his girls in all their activities. He was a John Wayne enthusiast, enjoyed dancing, fishing, spending time at Monument Lake, playing cards, and playing pranks on those he loved. Ed was a member of the Kansas Sheriff Association, Kansas Law Enforcement Association, Kansas Peace Officers Association, and Johnson Masonic Lodge #441.

Ed married Janeen Sue Lohoff on August 13, 1984 in Johnson. She survives. Other survivors include their two daughters, Jessie Harmon-Moore and husband Cayle of Independence, Kansas, Bree Bezona and boyfriend Kyle Rodriguez of Overland Park, Kansas; two grandsons, Allyn Dean and Bruce Edward; brother, Blake Bezona and girlfriend Stachia Nordyke of Johnson, Kansas; sister, Debbie Davis and husband Frank of Guthrie, Oklahoma; nieces and nephews, Chad Herron, Jammi Herron, Leslie Baker, Tyler Bezona, and Malea Bezona; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends he loved as family.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Stanton County High School Auditorium in Johnson, Kansas with Pastor Mary Courtney officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Johnson Masonic Lodge #441. Kansas Sheriff Association Honor Guard will be at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas.
