Edward E. Wooldridge

Edward E. Wooldridge, age 97, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Saturday, August 27, 2022, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses. He was born August 11, 1925, in Kingman, Kansas, the son of Jefferson Lee and Vera Lucille (Jones) Wooldridge.

Edward graduated from Penalosa High School and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He married Maxine R. Jones on December 29, 1946. They lived in multiple locations because of Edward’s work with Amoco including Sublette before settling in Ulysses in 1968. Edward worked for Amoco Production Company for 30 years. After he retired, he delivered cars for Riley Ford and Riley Chevrolet. Edward was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed walking and for years walked to the post office every day to get their mail. Edward enjoyed playing golf and also had a shop where he made and sold custom golf clubs. He will be remembered for his love of his family and the pride, and meticulous care he took in his vehicles and yard.

Edward is survived by his sons, Brad Wooldridge and wife Sonja of Ulysses, and Philip Wooldridge and wife Gina of Richardson, Texas; brother, Jim Wooldridge and wife Geri of Bella Vista, Arkansas; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  

Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Vera; wife, Maxine; and sister, Norma Geesling and husband Don.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Hoosier Cemetery in Kingman County with Ric Dalke officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Ulysses Masonic Lodge #435 in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
