Edna Marie Wiens, 102, of Adams, Oklahoma passed away November 22, 2020, during the COVID 19 pandemic, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas.
Edna was born April 20, 1918, during the Spanish flu pandemic, in rural Texas County, Oklahoma on the family farm near Adams, the daughter of Jacob and Marie Schroeder Martens.
She was united in marriage to Dave Aaron Wiens on February 14, 1937 in the Mennonite Church near Hooker, Oklahoma.
She was a board member of the Ect. Shop; a Sunday School Teacher, the Chairman of the Women’s Missionary Service, the Junior Sunday School Superintendent, and a member of the church choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dave and a great grandson Thomas Giffin and son in law, Ralph Sawatzky.
Members of the family are her four daughters, LaNetta Sawatzky of Enid, Oklahoma, Clarene and Gaylon Vogt of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Mary and John Wohlgemuth of Topeka, Kansas, Judy and Jamie Patterson of Adams, Oklahoma; one brother, Herbert Hoover Martens of Palmdale, California; ten grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren and fourteen great greatgrandchildren.
A family service will be held.
