Edgar Martinez

Edgar Martinez, 42, died Dec. 24, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born on Feb. 16, 1978 in Hidalgo, Mexico, the son of Gabriel and Maria Martinez.

Edgar moved with his family from Mexico to Satanta, KS, in 1988. The family then moved to Moscow, KS, where Edgar graduated from Moscow High School in 1996. After graduation, Edgar attended Southwest Kansas Technical School to study auto mechanics. He worked for Foss Ford as a mechanic for 13 years.

Edgar is survived by his parents of Moscow, KS; a daughter, Angel Martinez and her mother, Ashley Chaffin of Sublette, KS; two brothers, Gabriel Martinez of Austin, Texas and Ivan Martinez of Wichita, KS; a sister, Mireya Verheeck.

Vigil Service was held at St. Aphonsus Catholic Church in Satanta, KS on Dec. 28, 2020 at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Dec. 29, 2020 at 10 a.m. Burial followd at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette, KS. Visitation was at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette, on Dec. 28, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home.
