Eddy Raymond Koonce, 58, passed away Monday, March 23, 2021, at his residence, rural Morton County, Kansas.
He was born to Lloyd Raymond and Virginia Ann (Higel) Koonce on May 17, 1962, Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Eddy married Robin Dawn Fox on August 25, 1984 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. To this union are two children; Dawnee and Ty.
He attended New Mexico State University where he enjoyed rodeoing. He got his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Extension and Education. He was a farm consultant for Helena Chemical, ran the breeding facilities for Dekalb Swine, and became the 6th person hired in Kansas for Seaboard Farms. In 1996 they moved to Morton County where they found their dream home on the National Grasslands.
Eddy was employed at Elkhart High School as the Ag Teacher and FFA advisor for 20 years. He treasured being around the kids and enjoyed teaching them anything to do with livestock and welding. During these years he coached football, wrestling, golf, and numerous state qualifying horse and livestock judging teams. He was especially proud of his ag kids and their accomplishments. He also enjoyed giving back to the community by teaching his welders how to fabricate and build trailers for community members.
He loved Christmas, Bible Study, Frosty the Snowman, his cows, Mexican food, the Chiefs, the Razorbacks, his students, and his family.
Survivors include loving wife, Robin Koonce, Elkhart, KS.; daughter, Dawnee Rae Raskin and husband, Jeremy, Hudson, CO.; son, Ty Koonce and wife Carrie Jo, Pampa, TX.; grandchild, Colt Raskin, Hudson, CO.; father, Lloyd Koonce and wife Patty, Albuquerque, NM.; sister, Kelly Koonce, Albuquerque, NM.; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Dietz.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 28, 2021, 2 PM to 6 PM and Monday, March 29, 2021, 10 AM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Elkhart.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, March 30, 2021, 2 PM, Morton County Civic Center, Elkhart, Kansas with Pastor Jess Lee presiding. Burial to follow at Elkhart Cemetery. Masks are recommended per the Kansas Mask Mandate. The service will be available on Facebook Live on Robson Funeral Home’s Facebook Page.
