Duane Deloss Lambert, 88, of Kismet died Monday, November 23, 2020 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, KS.
He was born February 23, 1932 to Leroy Lambert and Coral (Hughes) Lambert in Liberal, KS.
Duane and Thelma Jean Scott were married on November 24, 1952 in Clayton, NM. She survives.
He graduated from Kismet High School with the class of 1950. He loved to play the cornet and was first chair in band.
After graduation he worked as an auto mechanic for Gray’s Auto Shop in Liberal and farmed for his Dad. When his dad could no longer farm, he took over all the farming. He put in irrigation in 1964.
He served as a board member for the Five State Fair from 1988 through 1992.
He loved fast cars, he first got a go-kart then he and his son built their own little midget cars and they had races in Kismet.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and loved to go dancing there and to the Kickers to dance to Butch and Pat’s music. His favorite dance was the Waltz and they would always play Waltzes for him.
He retired from farming in 1990, but didn’t like that so he started D&L Dirt Contractors, doing work for farmers and oil companies; he closed it in 2010.
He then Started going to breakfast at Jack’s Kitchen and the Pancake House and to coffee in the afternoons where he visited with his friends; which he really enjoyed.
He was instrumental in developing the Liberal Kansas Lambert Complex Soccer Field.
Survivors also Include son Leland Lambert and wife Natalie, Kismet, KS, daughter Debbie Blagrave and husband Bill, Wichita, KS, sister Barbara Hanson, Liberal, KS. 8 grandchildren; Justin, Mason, Vanessa, Christopher, and Jessica Lambert; Brian and Travis Adams, and Derek Blagrave; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.
Graveside committal service will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. To help protect others, face masks are required to be worn with social distancing being observed by all that attend.
