Dr. Juvenal Tiago Jabel, a compassionate and dedicated physician, passed away on October 20, 2023 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Born on July 2, 1943, in Ayungon, Negros Oriental, Philippines, Juvenal leaves a legacy of love and care that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.

Dr. Jabel’s journey in the medical field was remarkable. After completing his education at Southwestern College of Medicine in Cebu, Philippines, he moved to the United States and finished his residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He joined esteemed organizations such as the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and Bisaya Medical Association. His commitment to serving people and making them feel better was truly admirable.

Throughout his career, Dr. Jabel selflessly cared for countless patients during their most vulnerable moments. He began his medical practice at Satanta District Hospital in 1979 and provided exceptional healthcare until his retirement in 2013. Demonstrating his unwavering dedication to helping others, he continued caring for patients at Southwest Family Medicine in Liberal, Kansas.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Jabel had a rich and fulfilling life. He had a deep passion for the New York Giants football team and enjoyed cheering them on with great enthusiasm. He also found solace in golfing and was known for his expert Mahjong playing skills. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to connect with loved ones and friends.

Above all else, Dr. Jabel was known for his loving and caring nature. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel seen and heard. Whether through a warm smile or a comforting touch, he had a way of bringing comfort to the hearts of others.

Dr. Juvenal Tiago Jabel is survived by his devoted wife Rebecca Jabel of Liberal, KS., his son Juvenal Jabel Jr. and wife Judith of Mission Viejo, CA., his daughter Juvy Rea Jabel of New York, NY., and his daughter Jennifer Jabel of Denver, CO. He was the loving brother of Pepito Jabel and is also survived by five sisters: Leonora Jabel, Enriquieta Abrea, Luz Sarte, Felicita Mizagrande, and Mayolita Baron. His four grandchildren, Carley Trentman M.D., Enzo Jabel, Haliya Jabel, and Jayden Jabel, will forever cherish the memories they shared with their loving grandfather. Additionally, he leaves behind many other relatives and friends who were touched by his kindness.

Dr. Jabel was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Albritz Jabel, Jamie Jabel Sr., Augustino Jabel Jr., and Mayolito Jabel. Although they are no longer with us, their spirits will live on through cherished memories held close to the hearts of those who loved them.

To celebrate the life of Dr. Juvenal Tiago Jabel, visitation services will be held at Robson Funeral Home in Satanta on October 23 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on October 24 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on October 26 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A rosary prayer service will occur at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal on October 27 at 9:30 AM, followed by a Mass at 10:00 AM.

Dr. Juvenal Tiago Jabel’s departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled. However, his memory will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. As we say our final goodbyes, remember his dedication to healing others and carry forward his legacy of love and care.
