Douglas Keith Wehmeier, 69, of Rural Hooker, OK, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, April 5, 2018. He passed at Homestead Estates Home Plus, where he resided for the past month.

Doug was born March 28, 1949 in Liberal, KS to June (Buxton) and Clarence Wehmeier. He was raised on in rural Adams on his family’s homestead, along with his older brother and sister.

On December 27, 1985, Doug married Teresa (Rodkey) Wehmeier, and together enjoyed over 32 years of marriage filled with laughter, love, family and friends.

Doug worked for Seward County Community College as a maintenance electrician up until his retirement in 2014. He was an Adams volunteer firefighter. He loved to fish, take pictures and travel. During the last few years of his life, he suffered from dementia, but that didn’t stop him from living life to its fullest. He spent many days at Fort Supply, and in the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Berkey Wehmeier, one sister: Arlene VanWagner, two nieces: Wynona Wehmeier and Wynette Wehmeier, and one sister-in-law: Yvonne Wehmeier.

Doug is survived by his wife Teresa, of the home, four nephews: Wendall & Sarah Wehmeier, Turpin; Wayland Wehmeier, Amarillo, TX; Cody & Jenni Inhulsen, Butler, AL, Colin Inhulsen, Pensacola, FL, three nieces: Kim & Brent Ukens, Hooker, OK; Pam & Dolan Sledge, Guymon, OK; Crystal & Will Mays, Hardesty, OK, one brother-in-law: James VanWagner, Adams, OK, and one sister-in-law: LaJean & Jay Jimerson, Butler, AL, as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Adams. His cremains will be interred at Union Center Cemetery immediately following the celebration. All who knew and loved Doug are welcomed to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Association of Frontal-temporal Degeneration (www.aftd.org), or to the American Cancer Society and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home,   Box 745, Hooker, Ok 73945.
