Dorothy Pearl (Hockett) Kost, age 91, died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at her home in Beaver, Oklahoma
She was born on April 3, 1931, in Liberal, Kansas to Andrew and Cora Hockett. Dorothy married Warren Kost in Clayton, New Mexico on December 26, 1948, they later divorced. Born to them were five children, Glenn, Delbert, Jerry (Patsy), Gerry (Kay), and Sherry Newman.
Dorothy worked as a seamstress and for Pready Drapes where she met Dr. E.A. Neirnberger. She later took a position for Dr. Neirnberger as a Chiropractic Therapist, completing Chiropractic certification in 1968 and acupuncture certification in 1973. After the passing of Dr. Neirnberger she left the office, but it was not long before she had many of her previous patients asking for treatments at her home. She set up a treatment room in a back bedroom, where she treated anywhere from 5-6 people a day for many years. Dorothy also taught an Astrology class and did astrology charts for hundreds of people from all over. She was a wonderful gardener, loved all animals, truly believed that you treat people and animals with kindness, and to always do the right thing. She will be truly missed by all the lives she touched.
She is survived by eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, niece Blinda Massa and nephew Carl Massa.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, sister Lovetta Massa, nephew Merwyn Massa, adopted baby sister Lola Marie Hockett, and grandson-in-law Bret Lankford.
Visitation will be 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Burial to follow at Midway Cemetery in Beaver County, Oklahoma.
