Dorothy Loreen Swan

Dorothy Loreen Swan 84, died Monday, December 14, 2015 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS. She was born Jan. 11, 1931 in Liberal, KS, the daughter of Pete M. and Ann (Zielke) Franz. She has been a long time resident of the Liberal area. She graduated from Turpin High School in 1949. She had worked as a secretary for Ideal Warehouse. She also was involved in Real Estate and Developing and was co-owner of Central Cellular in Liberal, KS. She was known as an entrepreneur and businesswomen. She was a member of the Turpin Mennonite Church where she helped with the children’s activities. She loved to take care of her kids and grandchildren. She was an avid reader of the Bible and in her younger years, she played the piano and taught piano.

On May 27, 1950, she married James “Jim” Swan in Liberal, KS. He died Dec. 29, 2009.

Survivors include:

3 Daughters- Annette Massoni and husband Mark, Turpin, OK

Jan Foster and husband Stan, Turpin, OK

Susan Swan, North Newton, KS

1 Brother- Gary Franz and wife Mary, Newton, KS

5 Grandchildren- Hayley Smith; Jeremy Foster; Kylie Dillon and husband Nick; Jordan Massoni and wife Ranee and Jacey Wellendorf and husband Dustin.

9 Great Grandchildren- Tyler Olomon and wife Nikita; Taylor Olomon; Bayley Olomon; Adde Smith; Jaidey Smith; Drew Dillon; Cole Dillon; Gavin Massoni and Grayson Massoni

3 Great-Great Grandchildren- Elizabeth, Lily and Aubrey Olomon.

She was preceded in death by parents and one Brother, Eugene Franz.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17th at the Turpin Mennonite Church with Pastor Terry Rediger presiding. The burial will be held privately for the family at Turpin Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Visitation time will be Wednesday from 3 to 8 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home.
