Doris L. Glasscock

Doris L. Glasscock, age 84, of Johnson, Kansas died Sunday, December 13, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born March 20, 1931 in Sublette, Kansas, the daughter of Raymond Powell and Mabel Lorene (Weeks) Nichols.
Doris lived west of Manter from 1939 to 1942 coming from Copeland, Kansas with her family. They then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where Doris completed high school. She moved back to Johnson in 1953. She married Richard Lee Glasscock on January 23, 1954 in Clayton, New Mexico. They owned and operated the Restwell Motel in Johnson for several years. Doris enjoyed bird watching, sewing, ceramics, crocheting and other types of crafts. Her family was important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and attending the family reunion in Arkansas. Doris was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Johnson.
She is survived by her son, Richard R. Glasscock and wife Bev of Johnson, Kansas; daughter, Diana Daniels and husband Doug of Johnson, Kansas; special family friend, Ronda Ford of Johnson, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Arlene Nichols of Johnson, Kansas, Evelyn Nichols of Hutchinson, Kansas, Elda Nichols of Shawnee, Kansas; two grandchildren, Dacia Stratman of Garden City, Kansas, Dandi Amerin and husband Marcus of Hugoton, Kansas; and three great-grandchildren, Isabel Stratman and Danica and Averie Amerin.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard in 2011; brothers, Harold, Robert and Don; and grand-son-in-law, Joshua Stratman.
Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson, with family present from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
