Doris A. (Dixie) Hageman, age 91, passed away Sunday morning, February 26, 2023, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

She was born October 8, 1931, at Nashville, Kansas, the daughter of Charles B. and Anna (Fischer) Schwartz. As a young girl, she attended school in St. Leo, Kansas, graduating from Cunningham High School in 1949.

On August 24, 1950, she married Victor Joseph Hageman at St. Leo, Kansas. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Fowler where they raised their family and farmed for over fifty years.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, the Lakeview Club, and a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, playing cards, working in her yard, driving the tractor and grain truck, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Goertz and husband Bob of Plains, Kansas, Kevin Hageman and wife Sheila of rural Fowler, Kansas, Dean Hageman and wife Elaine of Olathe, Kansas, and Sherry Thomas and husband Jeff of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vic on April 14, 2012; parents; and four brothers, Delbert, Carlos, Robert, and Marcellus Schwartz.

Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, at the church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.

The family would welcome memorials to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
