Dora May Olney, 88, of Tyrone, Oklahoma passed away July 19, 2016 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Dora May was born the daughter of Emmet Rhodes Lowe and Nettie Ethel Love on January 12, 1928 in Liberal, Kansas. She also attended school in Liberal, Kansas and married Dene Ward Olney on July 14, 1946 in Cimarron, Kansas.
Dora May worked 20 years for Beech Aircraft in Liberal, Kansas. She enjoyed camping, sitting by a fire, watching nature, reading, crocheting, and playing cards with her family; spending time with her church family; and visiting with her friends. Dora May was always smiling and her beautiful blue eyes sparkled as she shared her love with anybody willing to accept it. Dora May’s legacy is that of patience, unconditional love, forgiveness, and living life to the fullest.
Dora May was preceded in death by her husband Dene, her parents; three sisters, Emma Lou, Joyce, and Wanda; son, Marvin Eugene Olney; and two grandchildren, David Dene Wanzer and Stacey M. Long.
Survivors include one son, Richard Olney of Tyrone, Oklahoma; three daughters, Beverley Olney and husband Steve Armstrong of Tyrone, Oklahoma, Marva Jean Olney and husband James Blesener of Hennessey, Oklahoma and Danita Olney of Clermont, Florida; 5 grand children, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the South Church of God in Liberal, Kansas with Rev. Jack Jacobs officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
