Don was born March 3, 1931 northwest of Hooker, Oklahoma, he was the son of Floyd R. and Thelma Delora Hampsten Towner.
He attended grade school at Lemon School and then attended Hooker High School graduating with the Class of 1950.
Don volunteered in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in 1953. After the combat he saw, he was glad to get back home.
Don lived and worked in Wichita, Kansas for many years, working for Boeing Aircraft and later worked as a truck driver for Groendyke Trucking and others.
He lived at Ft. Dodge, Kansas Soldiers Home for several years.
He is survived by brothers, Dwain & Adena Towner of Hugoton, Kansas, Roy & Marie Towner of Rolla, Kansas, Gary Towner of Hooker, Oklahoma, sister, Eileen& Bill Keyser of Pueblo, Colorado as well as many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Hooker Cemetery with Lance Morrisett, minister at the Church of Christ in Hooker, Oklahoma.
