Donald L.”Don” Hill

Donald L.”Don” Hill, 87, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Southwest Medical Center.

He was born in Hutchinson, KS to Blaine Hill and Jennie Nelson Hill on November 28, 1930.

He graduated Hutchinson High School in 1948. He received a B.A. from Bethany College in 1953, and a M.A. from University of Northern Colorado in 1957.

Don served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict.

Don married Bonnie Comer August 16, 1957 in Greeley, CO. She died November 19, 1997.

Don worked in the Liberal School District for 33 years as a school administrator, touching many lives along the way.

He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Don was a long-time member of the Liberal Kiwanis Club.

He was an avid sports fan of the Liberal Redskins, Seward County Saints, Liberal Bee Jays, and KU basketball. Don enjoyed playing tennis and golf.

He enjoyed his frequent visits to Liberal’s “Intellectual Center” also known as Daylight Donuts to discuss local and world affairs with his friends.

Survivors: Daughter Jennifer (Arthur) Partridge Broomfield, CO.
Sister: Virginia McClure Topeka, KS.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers Ernest, Joseph, Harold and Howard; and sisters Elizabeth Hinshaw, Marjorie Hicks, Mary Anne Tonn, Irene Briggs and Betty June Hill.

Funeral service will be 1:30 pm Friday, September 21, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Keith Anglemyer officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm with family receiving friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at the Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.

Don will be interred in Liberal Cemetery, Liberal, KS.

Memorials may be sent in Donald’s name to Stepping Stone Shelter or High Plains Public Radio in care of the Brenneman Funeral Home & Cremation services at 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
