Domingo V. Lopez, age 81, of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born December 2, 1934 in Maxwell, Texas, the son of Martin and Andrea (Vargas) Lopez.
Domingo grew up in Texas. He worked for Barney Rogers Dirt Contractors and was self-employed. Domingo’s priority was time spent with family. He enjoyed attending ballgames, gardening, growing cactus, classic cars, and watching his kids and grandkids in all their activities.
Domingo married Rachel Sanchez on November 8, 1958, she survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Carmen Orosco and husband Danny of Ulysses, Kansas, Grace Chavez and husband Simon of Ulysses, Kansas, Amanda Sierra and husband Steve of Johnson, Kansas, and Stephanie Barrios and husband Jesus of Ulysses, Kansas; three sisters, Donicia Montana of Vernon, Texas, Delores Gamez of San Marcos, Texas, and Natividad Rocha of Smyer, Texas; 16 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Domingo is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Denise Gonzalez; one brother; and three sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Francisco Rojas officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday March 18, 2016 at Primera Iglesia Bautista, a memorial service will begin at 7:00 PM, and a vigil from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM.
