Dolores Chrispens Martin

Dolores Chrispens Martin, 89, of Turpin, Oklahoma passed away April 1, 2015 in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Linda Martin, where she had lived for the last several months.

A lifetime member of the Hooker Seventh-day Adventist Church, she served in many capacities including children’s and adult Sabbath school leader and teacher, elder, deaconess, local and state community service leadership.

As a loving, dedicated mother and friend, gardener, seamstress, quilter, super cook, Dolores was also involved in home demonstration club, 4-H club leadership, Pathfinder leadership, and community Bible study.

Always the hard worker, she also faithfully assisted with the farming and working with her husband, Virgil, in Martin Cabinet Shop. Dolores loved these creative activities as well as being a voracious reader and lover of music. Most of all she loved God and her family.

Survivors include daughter Patricia and her husband, Reed Christman of Kernersville NC, son Kent and his wife, Linda Martin of Turpin OK, grandchildren Michael and his wife, Cathleen Martin of Bastrop TX, Terry Kent and his wife Kelli Martin of Sherman, TX, Dennis and his wife, Julie Martin of Turpin OK, Stacey Christman and her husband, Bryant Brackett of Kernersville NC, Andrea Christman and her husband, Andrew Loftus of Herndon VA and great grandchildren Austin Brackett, Tyler Brackett, Conner Brackett, Madison Brackett, Henry Martin, Edward Martin, George Martin, and her brother Demonte Chrispens of Stevensville MI.

Preceding her in death were her parents J. F. Chrispens and Alvina (Hintergardt) Chrispens, her husband James Virgil Martin, Jr., brothers Fred Chrispens and Jake Chrispens and sisters Thelma Barr, Clara Faust, and Maxine Jensen Patton.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hooker Parks Pavilion (downtown park), Hooker Cemetery Fund, or to Tri Christian Academy Building Fund, Highpoint, NC and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. Les Bussell officiating.

Family will greet friends on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, OK.
