Dolly E. Thompson

Dolly E. Thompson, age 72, of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center– St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. She was born August 28, 1940 in Cogar, Oklahoma, the daughter of Edward K. and Elsie Mae (Fauver) Hill.

Dolly grew up in Attica, Kansas and graduated from Attica, Kansas High School and Northwest Oklahoma State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. She was a teacher at Skyline High School in Pratt, Kansas and Ulysses, Kansas. Dolly married Robert L. Thompson on December 28, 1961 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, a former member of ESA and AAVW.

She is survived by her husband, Robert of the home; son, Chris Thompson and wife Renee of Salina, Kansas; two daughters, Cynthia M. Schultz and husband Marion of Ulysses, Kansas, Carri L. Torchia and husband Patrick of Arvada, Colorado; two brothers, Tom Polsley and wife Joyce of Bethany, Oklahoma, Dr. Fred Hill and wife Annis of Sulpher Springs, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and three nieces and three nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Elsie and step-father, L.W. Polsley.

Vigil and rosary service will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 7:00 PM and funeral mass will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mary, Queen of Peace Scholarship Fund or Grant Co. Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
