Dewayne Malone

Dewayne Malone, 77, of Ulysses, Kansas died Friday, December 2, 2011 at his home in Ulysses, Kansas . He was born April 14, 1934 in Ulysses, Kansas , the son of Jess and Blanche (Young) Malone.

Dewayne grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Grant County Rural High School and attended Ft. Hays State University . He married Sally Stoskopf on December 21, 1952 in Ulysses, Kansas . He was a Division Manager at Ulysses Irrigation Pipe for years. He then started Malone Enterprises, working as a construction contractor. Dewayne was a very active member in the Shelton Memorial Christian Church, serving as a deacon and an elder. He was involved in Little League Baseball with his boys. Dewayne always had a big garden and also loved to fish.

He is survived by two sons, Scott Malone, Craig Malone and wife Mary Kay, all of Ulysses, Kansas ; brother, Rex Dimitt of Savannah , Georgia ; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally on June 4, 2011; two sons; Kirk Malone and Mark Malone; and one brother, George Malone.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Bill Harrold and Pastor Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery . Friends may call Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Shelton Memorial Christian Church Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave , Ulysses , KS 67880 .
