Denzil (Denny) Wade Duvall age 82, passed away on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024 at his home in Tyrone, OK.
He was born on November 4, 1942 to Calvin Kiplin Duvall and Violet Pearl Lubbers (Duvall) Salsman on the Lubbers homestead in Beaver County, OK with his grandma Vinny Lubbers delivering him during a snow storm.
Denny grew up in Liberal, KS and eventually lived with his grandparents, Henry and Vinny Lubbers, when his parents were relocated with Kip’s job. As a youth, he was heavily involved in FFA and Grange. He graduated from Liberal High School in 1960.
After graduation, Denny became involved in the rodeo scene. He rode bulls and broncs for five years and even sold a Highland Bull to buy his bride a wedding ring, while working in the oilfield and then later Beech Aircraft in Liberal. Denny married Linda Sue Abel April 18, 1964 in Tyrone, OK. They had two daughters, Tisha in 1976, and Tasha in 1990.
While working at Beech, he became one of the founding members of the Beech Flying Club, and later owned his own airplane for years. After Beech moved, he started his own trucking company, being leased to National Carriers. After 18 years of trucking, he went to work for the natural gas industry with Northern Natural, Enron, and West Texas Gas where he retired in 2008. Denny was also a farmer while working his full-time job and continued farming after retirement.
Denny was a member of the Tyrone saddle club for years. A Tyrone city council member for many years and continuous mayor for 12 years. Denny also enjoyed auto racing. He ran drag cars, stock cars, and super modifieds for 25 years. Denny was a member of the Turpin Methodist Church.
Denny is survived by his loving wife Linda of 60 years. Two daughters, Tisha Loomis (Tim) of Baker, OK and Tasha Herrera (Adrian) of Goodwell, OK. Two sisters, Lorraine Walker of St. Joseph, MO, and Ella Belles (Jack) of Hubert, NC. One brother, Calvin Duvall (Joanne) of Clymer, PA. One brother-in-law, Scott Snyder of Owego, NY. One grandson Logan Loomis (partner Emily Bass) of Baker, OK. Two granddaughters, Rylinn Herrera and Chloe Herrera of Goodwell, OK, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, younger brother Donald Duvall, and younger sister Vinny Snyder.
Viewing will be 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday December 7, 2024 at Miller Mortuary in Liberal, KS.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 am on Saturday December 14, 2024 at the Turpin Methodist Church in Turpin, OK.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tyrone Fire Department or the Turpin Methodist Church.
