Delores “Dude” A. Thomason

Delores “Dude” A. Thomason, age 87, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses. She was born July 9, 1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Laurence and Lois (Barton) Hennigh.

Dude married Dillard Gene Thomason on January 30, 1952, in Midland, Texas. They moved to Ulysses in 1954 where they engaged in farming and raised their family. Dude enjoyed the farm work and often times drove a grain truck and tractor. She loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and knitted each of them a blanket. She was a member of the Eastern Star and attended the First Baptist Church.

Dude is survived by her son, Laurence Thomason and wife Carolyn of Pratt; daughter, Jeannie Bushnell and husband George of Ulysses; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dude is preceded in death by her parents, Laurence and Lois Hennigh; husband, Dillard in 2011; sons, Darrell Thomason and Donald Thomason; and daughter, Lois Dale Thomason.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with Pastor Bob LeVene officiating. A private family inurnment for Dude and Dillard will be at a later date at Ulysses Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Down Syndrome Society or American Cancer Society in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
