Delbert J. Miller passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 8, 2022, at the Minneola Long Term Care Center, Minneola, Kansas. He was 93 years old and was surrounded by loved ones in death.
He was born June 3, 1929, at Plevna, Kansas, the son of Louise F. and Eva (Lehman) Miller. As a young boy he attended school in Walsh, Colorado. After his schooling, he began his career in farming for eleven years before moving to Lamar, Colorado. He later moved to Ulysses, Kansas where he continued to farm for forty-five years until his retirement. After his retirement he moved to Fowler, Kansas, to be near family.
He was a member of the Fowler United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, and was a 4-H leader for several years. He enjoyed riding his bicycle and spending time with his family and friends. His grandkids fondly recall playing dominoes with him and watching the Kansas City Chiefs with him on football nights.
On March 7, 1954, he married Marie Louise Crotinger in Syracuse, Kansas. Delbert and Marie were together for over 50 happy years of marriage. Marie passed on May 29, 2006. Delbert is preceeded in death by his parents a brother, James F. Miller; and his two sisters, Betty Beltz and Eva Mcpherson in death.
Delbert is survived by two sons: Louis J. Miller and wife Phyllis of Tulsa, Oklahoma – and Leighton Miller and wife Shawna of Baldwin City, Kansas. He is also survived by a brother, Edward L. Miller of Wichita, Kansas as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Carol Tepe of Dodge City, Kansas, has been a great comfort and partner to Delbert for the past seven years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
The family would welcome memorials to the Kansas 4-H Foundation in care of the funeral home.
