David W. Collins, age 74, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born July 9, 1936 at Rolla, Kansas the son of David Isaac and Gertrude Marie (Hull) Collins. David attended school in Two Buttes, Colorado and graduated from Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Kansas. David married Billie Raney on September 24, 1955 in Elkhart, Kansas. A lifelong resident of Elkhart, David worked for Nusser Chevrolet as a parts man and salesman. He later owned and operated Tri-State Auto in Elkhart until his retirement. He was a member of the Elkhart Lions Club, serving as past president, Elkhart United Methodist Church and served on the Elkhart City Council. He enjoyed cars, especially Chevrolet, gardening, and playing cards. He is survived by three daughters, Tammy Emmert and husband Mike, Laura Collins, all of Elkhart, Kansas, Teresa Dwiggins and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four brothers, Don Collins, Duke Collins, Dale Collins all of the Albany, Oregon area, Tom Collins of Van Buren, Arkansas; four sisters, Kathy Collins, Roseanna Maddy, Judy Stephens, Shirley Bailey all of the Albany, Oregon area; four grandchildren, Tausha Espinoza, Devi Pedrazine, Beau Line, Jamie Hudgins; and four great-grandchildren, Jalen Espinoza, Emmitt Espinoza, Keon Devin, and Jaden Voisin. David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Billie on September 10, 2008; brother, Pete Collins; sister, Sis Collins; and two infant siblings. Visitation: 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas. Graveside Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kansas with Pastor Keith Davis officiating. Interment: Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kansas.
