David Michael Bozone, 71, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his residence rural Rolla, Kansas.
David was the son of Samuel W. and Frances (Edelman) Bozone. He was born on October 6, 1946 in Seward County, Kansas. He was a lifetime resident of Stevens County, Kansas.
David and Shirley Livengood were married on May 24, 1969 in Morrill, Kansas. To this union were two children Shannon and Brandon. They divorced 40 years later.
On December 16, 2013, David married Doris Roberts in Hugoton, Kansas. They enjoyed their Colorado home together.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Hugoton, KS. David was a County Commissioner for 16 years. He was on the Stevens Co. fair board for several years and enjoyed being a ring-man at the livestock sale. He liked to hunt deer, pheasant, quail and also arrowheads. He was a member of the Antique Tractor Club in Stevens County in the 80’s. He loved to farm and ranch in Stevens and Morton County. He was a leader in the advancement of the Simmental industry for 30 years and has since raised quality commercial cattle. He was an avid donor to the Pheasant Heaven Charities in Hugoton and Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in Amarillo, Texas.
The Bozone family was Farm Family of the Year in 1981, this was awarded by the American Royal.
David and Shirley were selected as the 2003 Soil Conversation Awardees. This award was very special to them because in 1954 David’s father, Samuel was awarded the same honor for very different methods he implemented on the same farm.
He was a graduate of Hugoton High School. He then attended college at Kansas State University in Manhattan and got his degree in Animal Science. While at Kansas State University he was on the Livestock Judging Team and earned the 3rd high individual placing at the National Livestock Judging Contest in Chicago in 1968.
Survivors include wife, Doris Roberts, Rolla, KS; son, Brandon Bozone, Hugoton, KS; daughter, Shannon Schneider and husband Thad, Wamego, KS; brother Pete Bozone and wife Linda, Wyoming; step daughters, Shawna Roberts and Tane Jones and husband Robert all of Denver, CO; a granddaughter Channing Schneider and a grandson Copeland Schneider; two step granddaughters, Jessica Ford and Alissa Ford and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Billy Bozone.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10 AM at Hugoton United Methodist Church with Rev. Rebecca Davison and Pastor Larry Bradford presiding.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 1 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence, Kansas with Pastor Larry Bradford presiding.
Friends may call Sunday 2 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM.
