David Lloyd Helget, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 26, 2025, in Hugoton, Kansas.
David was born on June 9, 1940, in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska, to Peter Paul and Mary Katie (Earl) Helget. David was raised in Dighton, Kansas. David lived a life dedicated to and with love for his family.
David and Elsie Mae Lawrence were married September 27, 1959, in Dighton, Kansas.
David’s professional journey began when he moved to Hugoton in 1959. He initially worked for Buell Snyder TV repair service for several years before joining the Hugoton School District as a custodian. With unwavering commitment and hard work, he advanced to the position of Audio-Visual Technician, where he dedicated 14 years of service. Following this, he spent 23 years working for Northern Natural Gas, showcasing his work ethic and loyalty. After retiring, he continued to work with Handcock Electric.
Family was of utmost importance to David. He is survived by his loving wife, Elsie Helget; two daughters, Melinda Helget and Stacy Helget, all of Hugoton, Kansas. He shared a special bond with his sister, Joyce Roberts, and her husband Carl, Dighton, Kansas. David’s legacy lives on through his three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will always cherish the memories of the time spent together, including the dining room table he was making for his family.
David was preceded in death by his parents, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became.
A visitation will be on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton, Kansas.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Assembly of God Church, followed by burial at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.
David Lloyd Helget will be remembered as a man of great integrity and warmth, leaving behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
