David Lee Hinkle, 54, died June 7, 2023 at St Catherine Hospital in Dodge City. He was born on June 18, 1968 at Garden City,the son of Jimmy Lee Hinkle and Sharon (Batman) Hinkle-Murphy.
A lifetime resident of Sublette, David completed his education at Sublette High School, graduating in 1986. He attended college at Colby Community College and Fort Hays State University. David began farming with his father as a young child and continued farming until 1999. On June 20, 1992, he was united in marriage to Tina Coleen Davis at the Christian Church in Sublette. The couple made their home in Sublette and raised two sons, Travis and A.J. David began a career in automotive sales when he took a position with Foss Motor Company in Liberal, where he stayed for twenty years. David and Tina moved briefly to Texas before returning to southwest Kansas, making a move to Garden City in June 2021. He joined the sales team at Burtis Motor Company in Garden City in October 2021. David loved his family with all his heart and never passed up a moment to spend time with them. He was proud of his boys and their accomplishments through the years. David was an inspiration to all those he came in contact with and throughout the years formed many friendships and lasting memories. David’s life was a blessing and he will be dearly missed.
He attended the Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal.
David is survived by his wife, Tina of Garden City; two sons, Travis Lee Hinkle of Garden City and Alec Jace “A.J.” Hinkle of Sublette; his mother, Sharon Hinkle-Murphy and husband Ed of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Sonja Parker and husband Kevin of Liberal; parents-in-law, Jackie and Gloria Davis of Sublette; sister-in-law, Leigh Watson and husband Adam of Garden City; brother-in-law, Chad Davis and wife Jennifer of Sublette; Four nieces and Three nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy L.Hinkle and grandparents, Verne and Hazel Hinkle and Glen and Pauline Batman.
Funeral service will be held at Sublette Christian Church on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 10:30 AM with Pastor David Rine presiding. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2:00 -6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Western Avenue Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
