Danny William Harvey, 62, of Hugoton, KS passed away on Monday, November
1, 2021 at the Stevens County Hospital after a long battle with lung and
heart issues.
He was born on June 21,1959 to Sammie McDowell-Harvey and Bob Harvey in
Kansas City, KS.
He was a 1978 graduate from Liberal High School and was on the Liberal
Redskins football team and member of the Madrigals Choir. Danny Bill
started TK Cellular in the early1990’s bringing the cell phone industry
to the Liberal area. On October 14, 1995 he married Marikate Light in
Taos, NM at the First United Methodist Church. Danny Bill had a passion
for motorcycles from childhood and was a member of a Harley Davidson
riders club in Liberal. He was instrumental in coordinating poker runs
for various charities. Danny was proud to be a citizen of the USA
showing his love for the armed forces and their families. He arranged to
have the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Moving Wall to Southwest Kansas to
honor those service men and women who lost their lives while serving in
the war. He also worked with agencies in Liberal that covered SW Kansas
as a case manager for home base community services (HBCS). Danny became
a physical therapy assistant (PTA) in 2013 and was an advocate for those
with physical handicaps, with a special interest in spinal cord and head
injuries. Danny was unable to use his PTA education because of a genetic
back problem.
Danny Bill is survived by his loving wife Marikate of 26 years, his
children; Son, LCDR Ryan “Ty” Tyson Harvey of the US Navy and wife Jenna
of Anacortes, WA; Daughter, Kiley (Harvey) Collins and husband Aaron of
San Diego, CA; step-daughter, Stephanie Bond of Hugoton, KS; step-son,
Christopher “Kit” Bond DRPh and wife Andrea of Wichita, KS  Six
grandchildren; Tyra, Tia, Kaleiegh, Evie, Hannah and Conrad.  Siblings
include Brother, Donald Turner Shawnee, KS; Sisters, Letti Sue Harvey
and Don Lee of DeSoto, KS and Rachelle Cox and husband Craig of Oak
Grove, MO.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Sammie and Step-dad Raymond
Upshaw, Brothers; Terry Bunkers and Steve Bunkers.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday November 11th at Miller
Mortuary, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, November 12, 2021, at the
Miller Mortuary Chapel, Liberal, Kansas. Burial will follow at Liberal
City Cemetery.
