Daniel Joseph Syslo, age 66, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, October 9, 2017, at his home in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born October 5, 1951, in Columbus, Nebraska, the son of Louis Edward and Eleonore Bridget (Cuba) Syslo.
Daniel grew up in Fullerton, Nebraska, graduating from Fullerton High School in 1969. Daniel entered The United States Army in 1970, serving in Korea. When he was younger, he farmed and then spent several years working in the oilfields in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas. Before moving to Ulysses, Daniel worked as a Generator Technician in Plantation, Florida. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and playing cards. Daniel was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He is survived by his son, Joe Syslo and wife Makayla of Ulysses, Kansas; brother, Ed Syslo and wife Carol of Fullerton, Nebraska; sisters, Mary Syslo of Washington State, Chris Gleason and husband Jim of Fullerton, Nebraska, and Kathy Syslo and Ric Kozikowski of Massachusetts; two grandchildren, Emmy and Wyatt Syslo; and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Eleonore Syslo; and brother, James Syslo.
Memorial service will be Friday, November 3, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with Bishop Carl Egley officiating.
