Damon E. Brown, age 69, passed away late Wednesday evening, April 10, 2019, in rural Seward County, Kansas, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

He was born May 29, 1949, at Carnegie, Oklahoma, the son of Frank Hatton and Fern Schmidt.  As a young boy he attended the Meade school system, graduating from Meade High School in 1967.  After his graduation, he joined the United States Army, serving until 1970.  After his discharge he returned to Meade County.  A longtime resident of Meade County, he was a career truck driver.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, children, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by sons, Jesse Brown and wife Karla of Roeland Park, Kansas, and Shawn Brown of Fowler, Kansas; a stepson, Cliff Hailey of Meade, Kansas; his mother Fern Curry of Wichita; brothers, Charles Brown of New Port Richie, Florida, Clyde Brown of Wichita, Kansas, and Tony Brown of Wichita, Kansas; a sister Sheryll Suarez of Hutchinson, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica Custard, Anthony Brown, Dustin Brown, Trystan Brown, Taylor Brown, Jessica Brown, Juliana Brown, Blaze Bilodeau, Silas Brown, Tyson Hailey, Jamie Hailey, Zachary Hailey, and Makenzie Hailey; and seven great-grandchildren, Stephen Brown, Riley Custard, Michelle Brown, Zoey Brown, Liam Brown, Sophia Castillo and Manny Castillo.

He is preceded in death by two daughters, Michelle Brown and Damonica Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2019, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Friends may sign the guest register from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed. Interment will follow services in the Countryside Bible Church Cemetery, rural Meade.
