Cynthia L. Sheldon, age 63, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 10, 2020, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

She was born March 11, 1957, at Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph Gilbert and Bertha (McGuire) Hacker. As a young girl she attended the Plains school system and later received her CNA.

On November 3, 1979, she married Bob Sheldon at Plains. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rolla, Kansas, for several years where she began working as a CNA and then went to work for the Rolla School District. She later returned to Plains where was a homemaker.

As a young girl she attended the Plains First Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, sewing, crocheting, baking, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Crystal Martin and husband Shane of Cashion, Oklahoma, James Sheldon and wife Lisa of Piedmont, Oklahoma, and Dennison Sheldon of Plains, Kansas; a brother, Joseph G. Hacker, Jr. and wife Dawn of Port Orchard, Washington; and three grandchildren, Dylan Martin and wife Anabelle, Holly Martin, and Luke Martin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Gilbert Hacker, Francis Dick Hacker, Jerry Scullawal, and Tom Smith; and three sisters, Wanda Blackburn, Janet Thurston, and Donna Heiks.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2020, at First Baptist Church, Plains. Friends may call on Sunday with the family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery.

The family would welcome memorials to the Cynthia Sheldon Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
