Connie F. Nichols, age 86, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, August 5, 2024, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses. She was born July 7, 1938, in Fowler, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Suze (Hart) Dierking.
Connie grew up in Fowler where she graduated high school and then furthered her education at the Salt City Business College. She married Wilbert “Nick” Nichols on July 15, 1956, in Fowler. She worked in the Grant County Appraisers office for many years as a topographer. Connie was also a farm wife, mother, and Mary Kay Consultant. She enjoyed bowling, attending ballgames, cross stitch, weaving Swedish blankets, and knitted many blankets that she shared with others. Connie was a member of Shelton Memorial Christian Church.
Connie is survived by her children, Debra Barbo and husband Kevin, Pamela Brown and husband Craig all of Ulysses, and Scott Nichols and wife Karla of Cheney; brothers, Tommy Dierking and wife Kathy of Tallahassee, Florida, and Kent Dierking and wife Pat of Raton, New Mexico; sister, Carolyn Taylor and husband Ed of Hutchinson; five grandchildren, Trevor Brown and wife Rachel, Nichole Ivy and husband Aaron, Angela Lopez and husband Jack, Addison Nichols and wife Christine, and Avery Nichols and wife Niccole; and nine great-grandchildren.
Connie is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Nick.
Memorial service will be Friday, August 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Reverend Casey Chapman officiating. Graveside inurnment will be Friday, August 9, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Fowler Cemetery in Fowler, Kansas.
