Col. Stuart E. Lower

Col. Stuart E. Lower, 84, a longtime Guymon resident, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

The son of Harold and Lena (Watson) Lower, he was born December 31, 1937 in Sublette, Kansas. Stuart attended school in Sublette, graduating with the Class of 1956, he then attended Dodge City Community College. Stuart then served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return, Stuart married Suellen M. Hilbig on May 1, 1959. They had three children and lived in Sublette, until her passing on March 8, 1983.

Stuart and Twanda M. Tyson were united in marriage on June 25, 1989. They moved to Guymon from Liberal, Kansas, and have been residents since. Stuart amazed many young and old with his magic tricks, and would share the love of Jesus with his audience.

Stuart loved people and was a man of many hats. His career included farming, ranching, catering, owning and operating rental properties, and several businesses, as well as being a certified Colonel (Col.) auctioneer and real estate broker. He attended the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, and was a past president of both Guymon Lions Club, and Jaycees.

He is survived by his wife, Twanda Lower of the home, three children: Teri Trout and husband, Randy of Wichita, Kansas, Greg Lower and wife, Teri of Hutchinson, Kansas and Vaughn Lower and wife, Sharon of Sublette, Kansas; two step-children, Terry Tyson and wife Marguerite of Lipscomb, Texas and Penny Province and husband, Mickey also of Lipscomb. Survivors also include 24 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and five siblings: Jack Lower, Beverley Estes, Charlotte Conard, Charon Mills and Bill Lower all of Kansas.

Funeral services with US Army Honors will be Wednesday afternoon, February 9th at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor David Player officiating. Family inurnment will be in the Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette, Kansas at a later date.

Memorials in memory of Stuart may be given to the Victory Memorial Local Outreach Program. Memorials will be accepted at the church office or the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
