Cloyd Dewane Weathers, a long-time resident of the Eva, Oklahoma, community, died on October 3, 2020, in Durant, Oklahoma. He was born April 1, 1930, in Ulysses, Kansas, to Jess and Sarah Weathers.
He spent his early childhood in Great Bend, Kansas, and helped the family by holding many jobs through his early years. The family moved to Elkhart, Kansas, where Cloyd graduated from Elkhart High School in 1949. While attending Elkhart High School, he met his future wife Patricia Ann White, whom he married on October 17, 1949. Cloyd and Patricia celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary shortly before her death on December 4, 2017. Cloyd and Patricia farmed and ranched in the Eva community for over 50 years where they raised their family and were active supporters of Yarbrough Public Schools. Upon retirement, Cloyd and Patricia moved to Cypress, Texas, for six years, and then relocated to Durant where they lived until their passing.
He is survived by his children, Debra Jean Hickey and husband Charles of Reydon, Oklahoma; son, David Weathers, and wife Diane of Cypress, Texas; daughter, Leanna Olson and husband Al of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter, Valerie Mathews, and husband Hayden of Durant, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Sue Ferguson and husband Blaine of Houston, Texas; 16 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and counting, and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other family and friends.
Cloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his father, Jess; his mother and step-father, Sarah and Wesley Carter; four sisters, Ruth Ward, Ruby Crawford, Beverly Priest, and Mary Ellen Penick; and two brothers, Alvin and Keith Weathers.
Funeral service will be Saturday, October 10, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Chapel in Elkhart, Kansas, with David Johnson officiating. Service will also be available on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Live. Visitation will be Saturday, from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.
