Clifford Friesen

Clifford Friesen, age 93, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 30, 2021, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

 

He was born October 14, 1927 in rural Meade County, Kansas. He was the son of Jacob S. and Anna S. (Doerksen) Friesen.  As a young boy, he attended Goodwill School in rural Meade County.  He accepted Jesus as his Savior at a rival meeting at an early age.  On September 9, 1948, he married Helen Ann Wiens in Meade, Kansas.  She survives. On November 4, 1954, he joined the United States Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas.  He served in the 29th Field Artillery 4th Infantry Division at Friedburg, Germany.  He later transferred to the 802 7th Army Division of the self-propelled artillery in New Elm, Germany until his discharge in October of 1956.  After his discharge, he returned to Meade County and began his career as a farmer and rancher.

 

During his life, he was a member of the Meade USD 226 School Board, the CMS Board, Sandcreek Township, Meade Livestock Sale, the American Legion, MCC, and MDS.  He loved being with his family, and enjoyed going to the car races at Dodge City and boating at Table Rock Lake.  A couple of his special moments included the privilege of going on the Kansas Honor Flight to Washington, DC, and most recently receiving a quilt of valor in Meade for his military service. 

 

Left to mourn are his wife Helen Ann; his three children, Pam Stevenson, Bradley Friesen and wife Esther, Barry Friesen and wife Karen; 5 grandchildren, Kristy Meinzer and husband Jake, Jared Friesen and wife Leakena, Kayla Stevenson, Kinzie Friesen, Nikki Friesen; a great-grandson, Jakin Bradley, coming in August; a sister, Bea Peters; and a brother, Mick Friesen.

He is preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters: Martin Friesen, Elias Friesen, Sam Friesen, Esther Peters, Hulda Friesen, Kathryn Keesling, Leonard Friesen, and Justina Friesen in infancy.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, at the Countryside Bible Church Cemetery, rural Meade.  The casket will remain closed.  Interment will follow services in the church cemetery.

 

The family would welcome memorials to the Lone Tree Retirement Center in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.

Everyone is welcome to join the family for a fellowship meal following the service at the EMC church in town.
