Claressa B. (Walker) Pratt, age 74, of Elkhart, Kansas died August 13, 2016, at her home in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born April 2, 1942, in Springfield, Colorado the daughter of Clarence and Pansy (Hartley) Walker.
Claressa grew up in Johnson and graduated from Johnson High School. She attended Fort Hays University, where she received a degree in Education. She taught school in Mt. Clemens, Michigan and Germany. She moved to Elkhart in 1981, where she taught elementary classes for more than 20 years until she retired. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Morton County Historical Society. She enjoyed reading and going to the Senior Center.
Survivors include a step-son, Rick Pratt and wife Debbie of Centerville, Georgia; brother, Jim Walker and Sharon Nagel of Ulysses, Kansas; two nephews, Jeff Walker and wife Trisha of Ulysses, Kansas, and Mike Walker and Michelle Steinbock of Broomfield, Colorado, and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Elkhart, Kansas with Reverend Shella Chol officiating. Graveside service will be Saturday, August 20, 2016, at 2:00 PM CST at Walsh Cemetery at Walsh, Colorado. Visitation will be Friday, August 19, 2016, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be given to Morton County Historical Society or Elkhart Senior Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
