Clara E. Dunn

Clara E. Dunn, age 87, died October 9, 2012 at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born September 11, 1925 at Clinton, Oklahoma the daughter of Sherman and Gladys (Slagle) Grubb.

Clara grew up at Custer County, Oklahoma and graduated from Clinton High School, Clinton, Oklahoma and Southwestern College at Weatherford, Oklahoma earning her teaching certificate.
She taught school in Custer County, Oklahoma and Richfield, Kansas. She married C. Eldon Dunn on November 23, 1949 at Clayton, New Mexico. Clara was a member of the Richfield United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, 4-H Leader, Member of EHU and served on the Morton County Library Board. Over the years Clara helped on the farm and drove a school bus and had a mail route.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Dunn and wife Martha of Elkhart, KS and Duane Dunn and wife Cindi of Liberal, KS. One daughter Nancy Leonard and husband Tim of Lone Wolf, OK. One brother John Grubb of Arkansas, two sisters Velma Carrol of Alabama and Catherine Hefner of Washington. Six grandchildren and seven great-grand-children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband C. Eldon Dunn on December 19, 2008. One son Roger Dunn, one brother Sherman Grubb II, and one sister Lily Cannon.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 13, 2012, 10:00 a.m. at the Richfield United Methodist Church, with Pastor Sandy Ferguson presiding. Burial will be in the Richfield Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, October 12, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Elkhart, KS. The Family suggests memorials be given to the Richfield United Methodist Church or the Morton County 4-H Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
