Chester G. Wasson

Chester G. Wasson, age 84, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 10, 2019, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

He was born April 27,1934, at Meade, the son of Roscoe and Mary (Griffith) Wasson.  As a young boy he attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1952.  After his graduation, he attended Kansas State University.

On November 14, 1953, he married Phyllis A. Spaulding in Clayton, New Mexico.  After their marriage, the couple made their home in Meade, also living in Oklahoma, Garden City, and Ulysses, before returning to Meade.  A longtime resident, he was a carpenter.

He enjoyed working and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by three sons, Wesley Wasson Meade, Barry Wasson and wife Deanna, of Meade, and Rocky Wasson and wife Cindy of Evanston, Wyoming; a daughter, Covella Wilson of Topeka, Kansas; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Colletha S. Suiter; and a sister, Catherine Black.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Church of the Nazarene, Meade.  Cremation has taken place.

The family would welcome memorials to the Church of the Nazarene security fund in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
