Charles William Brownlee

Charles William Brownlee, 75, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS
He was born September 20, 1938 in Buffalo, MO, the son of James and Norma (Moore) Brownlee. He graduated from Satanta High School in 1956 and received his Bachelors of Science degree from Emporia State University and a Masters in Physics from the University of Wyoming. He was retired from Seward County Community College (SCCC) after 30 years as a math, science, and physics instructor.
He was a member of the Satanta United Methodist Church, Liberal Kids Inc, and Kiwanis club. He was a member of the SCCC Athletics Booster Club and was inducted into the Seward County Community College Athletic Hall of Fame in April of 2013. He enjoyed his spending time with his grandkids, and doing woodworking, stamp collecting and Seward County College sports. He remained active at SCCC activities until his health was affected by Lou Gehrig’s disease.
On June 20, 1958, he married Evelyn Hockett in Satanta, KS. She survives.

Robert Brownlee and wife Esther, Baton Rouge, LA
3 Sisters – Charlotte Hagaman and husband Lynn, Hillsboro, KS
Barbara Brookshire and husband Larry, Hoxie, KS
Terrie Romero and husband Russell, New Iberia, LA
5 Grandchildren – Loren and Kyle Brownlee, Canyon City, OR, Joshua and Sally Brownlee, Mulvane, KS and Hannah Brownlee, Texarkana, TX.
Preceded in death by his Father and Granddaughter, Margaruite Ray Brownlee.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at the Satanta United Methodist Church in Satanta, KS with Pastor Kelvin Heitmann presiding.
Visitation time will be from 1 to 8 pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal with the family present to greet friends from 4 to 6 pm Friday.
In lieu of flowers and plants, memorial contributions may be sent to the SCCC/ATS Foundation for the Brownlee Science and Math Endowment Fund in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
