Charles V. (Bo) Crocker : UPDATE

. (Bo) Crocker, age 99, of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born May 11, 1914 in Ford, Kansas, the son of Benjamin H. and Ivy Mae (Falkner) Crocker.

Bo grew up in Colorado and Kansas, moving often during those years. He graduated from Tribune High School in 1933 and attended Ft. Hays State University and Kansas University. In October 1936, Bo began operating a movie theatre in Ulysses. He married Ethelynne “Etch” Adair in Ulysses, Kansas on July 4, 1937. They had two children, Benjamin Curtis and Delores Darlene. Two years later Bo and Etch opened the drive-in theater on the east side of town. Bo and Etch sold the theatre to Richard and Norma Dudley in 1972. Etch died in 1980. Bo married Hazel Merritt in 1982. He and Hazel enjoyed 25 good years together before her passing in January 2007. He was a member of Ulysses Rotary, Ulysses Masonic Lodge #435 for 70 years, Shelton Memorial Christian Church and past president of Grant County Chamber of Commerce. Bo enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He is survived by his three grandchildren, Allyson Reeb and husband Bernie, Sabrina Jackson and husband Steve, and Wade Smith all of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Doris King and Juanita Adair both of Ulysses, Kansas; eight great-grandchildren, Leah Reeb, Alec Reeb, Jonah Reeb, Chris Reeb, Haylie Smith, Savannah Smith, Micah Smith, Ayden Smith; one great-great-grandchild, Gage Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews; step-children, Kay Whaley and husband Delbert of Ulysses, Kansas, Sue Windsperger and husband Kenneth of Isle, Minnesota, Tom Merritt and wife Sharon of Gunnison, Colorado, Ted Merritt and wife Jennie of Spring Hill, Kansas; and six step-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wives, Etch and Hazel; son, Benjamin Curtis Crocker; daughter, Delores Darlene Smith; sisters, Helen Hurlbut, Thelma Robinson, Roberta Rouse, and Virginia Binney.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Phillip Hayes and Chris Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Grant County Senior Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
