Charles Lloyd Bennett, 84, passed away Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017 at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, KS.
He was born on Oct 14, 1932 to Arthur and Rose (Barrow) Bennett in rural Beaver County Oklahoma. Lloyd attended Turpin, OK, schools graduating in 1950. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Panhandle A&M College and a Master’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Animal Husbandry. Lloyd spent his lifetime working in the agricultural and livestock industry. He operated the feedstore in Hooker, OK, and feed yards in Beaver, Adams, and Turpin, OK. He also constructed and managed Supreme Feeders north of Liberal, KS. In his later years, he worked a cow-calf operation on the family homestead. His hobbies included dancing, gardening, hunting and fishing.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by three children: Brenda Bennett-Pike (Tony) Lawrence, KS, Brent Bennett (Barbara) Aztec, NM and Kendra Wagner (Dan) Flower Mound, TX; four grandchildren: Bailey Pike (Lance), Kelsey Pike (Tristan), Nicholas Wagner and Jackson Wagner; two great grandchildren: Oliver and Parker Jepson-Pike: and a sister, Cheryl Wolf, Spearman, TX. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Karen Bennett and Joyce Shuey.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at the Midway Cemetery, Floris, OK, with Rev Stan Lehnert presiding. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade. Memorials are suggested to the Lone Tree Retirement Center, PO Box 340, Meade, KS 67864.
