Charles Edwin Collins

Charles Edwin Collins, 67, of Houston TX, passed away at his home Sunday April 4th, after a brief battle with cancer. Charles was born on August 18, 1953, in Liberal KS, the second son of Loren Lee and Joan Etta (Henage) Collins. He graduated Liberal High school with the Class of 1971. While attending LHS and Seward County Community College, he assisted his parents at the family business, Merit Radiator Service. Charles later continued his studies of Computer Science at Kansas State University and Wichita State University. He retired as Computer Systems Manager from Houston Transportation (Yellow Cab) in 2019.

Charels enjoyed traveling, vacationing at Lake Texhoma, gardening, and his two dogs, Bentley and Missy. He is survived by his best friend and partner, Billy Easley, three brothers, Everett Collins and John Collins, both of Liberal, Lewis Collins of Perryton TX, his sister Lori and her husband, Steve Merz, of Liberal and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Eugene (Gene) Collins.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. A goFundme account has been established on Facebook to assist the family with medical bills. Memorials are encouraged in Charles’ name to the donor’s favorite charity. Graceful Memorial Chapel of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.
