Cecil R. Simpson Jr.

Cecil R. Simpson Jr., age 65, of Ulysses, Kansas died Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born August 10, 1950, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Cecil R. Sr. and Lorraine B. (Lozar) Simpson.

Cecil was a lifetime resident of Ulysses, graduating from Grant County Rural High School. Cecil married Sharon Peverley on April 20, 1990 in Breckenridge, Colorado.
He was the owner of Simpson Construction. He enjoyed deer and elk hunting, fishing, and was an Oklahoma University fan. He served on the Grant County Cemetery Board, City of Ulysses Planning and Zoning Board, and ran chains at the high school football games. Cecil enjoyed taking his grandkids on vacation trips to Colorado.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon of their home; son, Andy Simpson and wife Cesha of Ulysses, Kansas; daughters, Misty Andres and husband Brian of Smyrna, Tennessee, and Amy Jasnoski and husband Jason of Wichita, Kansas; brother, Harold “Dude” Simpson of Meade, Kansas; and eight grandchildren. 

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Sr. and Lorraine Simpson.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Historic Adobe Museum in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
