Catherine Marie Nelson Amerin, 89, died Monday, May 25, 2015 at her residence in Liberal.

She was born Oct. 25, 1925 to Vincent and Hester (Dickerson) Nelson in Plains.

She married Donald Wood, William Kemp, Ivan Holmes, and Joseph Amerin, who all preceded her in death.

She was a graduate from Liberal High School and was a longtime resident of Liberal.

She was employed in Naval Ship Yard in California and also was a waitress and a Night Auditor for Holiday Inn.

For 64 years she was a self-employed tax preparer.

She was in the Women Air Corp during WWII.

Survivors include: sons: Charles “Rocky” Kemp and wife, Pricilla, Odessa, Texas, Alen Holmes and wife, Cheral, Florida, Jim Cash and wife, Brenda, Longview, Texax, Milford “Geno” Holmes, Reno, Nev. and Joseph “Joe” Amerin and wife, Fonda, Liberal; daughters: Hester Goron and husband, Bill, Sweet Water, Nina Garcia, Liberal, Margaret Koetting, Liberal, and Marcella Stoll and husband, Douglas, Liberal; sister, Lillian Lavonne (Nelson) Cash, Longview, Texas; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vincent Hugh Nelson; sisters, Viola Lenore (Nelson) Krell and Rosealee (Nelson) Dunn; son-in-laws, Freddie Yazzie Sr. and Henry “Hank” Steven Koetting; and grandson Freddie Yazzie Jr.

• Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a register book available to sign on Friday and Saturday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
