Carolyn Sue Decker, a cherished member of the Hugoton community, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May12, 2024, at her son’s home in Amarillo, Texas. Born on February 27, 1940, in Alva, Oklahoma to loving parents Clark and Edna Cann, Carolyn’s journey was one filled with love and dedication.

On June 10, 1956, Carolyn embraced a life-long marriage with Dale Decker in Satanta, Kansas. Together they built their home in Hugoton later that year and created a life full of shared joys and memories until Dale’s passing in 2018. Carolyn’s roots traced back to Higgins, Texas where she blossomed into the remarkable individual known to many as a proud graduate of Hugoton High School.

Throughout her career, Carolyn exemplified dedication and passion. She served as a dispatcher at the Stevens County Sheriff’s office before embarking on an entrepreneurial endeavor alongside her husband – owning and operating the Showplace Theatre and Video until their retirement in 2017.

Her legacy lives on through her beloved family. She is survived by her son Alan Decker and daughter Lisa Di Gerolamo; their spouses Vicky and Christopher; grandchildren Erin Franklin, Blake Decker, Tasha Medina, Kolton Decker, Dacia Di Gerolamo, Micah Di Gerolamo; as well as great-grandchildren Harrison Decker, Madilyn Koehn, Emmi Lott, Abrielle Medina – all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Carolyn’s reunion with loved ones who passed before her – her parents Clark and Edna, husband Dale, and son Arlan – marks a joyous gathering beyond earthly realms. Her spirit of love and caring will forever echo through the hearts of those she touched.

In honor of Carolyn’s memory and dedication to charitable causes close to her heart, a memorial fund has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities. Contributions can be made to Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton.

Visitation for friends and family will take place on Thursday May 16th from noon until 8 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton. A funeral service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Sovereign Redeemer Church in Hugoton followed by burial at Hugoton Cemetery under the guidance of Pastor Eric Mason.
