Carol Tacha

Carol Tacha, age 100, passed away late Friday evening, March 30, 2018, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
 
She was born December 24, 1917, at Dellvale, Kansas, the daughter of Lester and Mary Ida (Goldsby) Hager.  As a young girl she attended the Clayton school system, graduating from Clayton High School.
 
On October 26, 1936, she married Darrel James Tacha at Oberlin, Kansas.  After their marriage they lived in Jennings, Kansas until 1941.  They later moved to Wichita where they resided until moving to Meade in 1943.  Upon making their home in Meade, she began working at Meade District Hospital in 1953 as a nurse’s aide until her retirement in 1996.
 
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cross-stitching, making afghans, embroidery, and spending with her family and friends.
 
She is survived by a son Melvin Tacha and wife Juanita of Meade; a daughter Sherry Doerflinger and husband Bud of Meade; a sister Ila Burke of Aurora, Colorado; eleven grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
 
She is preceded in death by her husband on June 20, 1981; parents; a son Martin Tacha; daughter-in-law Clauda Tacha; a daughter Shirley Jean Tacha; and two brothers Virgil and Dean Hager.
 
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, Kansas.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
 
The family would welcome memorials to the Meade District Hospital in care of the funeral home.
