Carol Sue Rose, 78, of Liberal, died early Wednesday, November 4th, 2020.

She was born July 27th, 1942, in Perry, OK, the daughter of Mikel and Truth Cain.

In 1964 she married Paul H. Donovan Jr. in Larned, KS; they later divorced. In 1981 she married Roger D. Rose in Liberal; he survives.

Carol attended school in Ark City, KS and graduated from Trousdale High in Trousdale, KS. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in social work from Fort Hays State University in 1964.

She worked as a social worker at the Larned State Hospital, Larned, KS; and for the State of Kansas, from the Liberal office, for many years. After marrying Roger Rose, she and Roger opened Midwest Auto Body in Liberal. They later moved to Amarillo, TX where she worked for Sears, Roebuck and Company and earned top salesperson in the major appliance department. In 2003 they moved back to Liberal to help with the family business, Richard Rose Pontiac until it’s closing in 2010. She was a member of the Believer’s Ministry Church in Liberal.

Other survivors include two sons, Paul H. Donovan III, and his wife, Lynn, Cañon City, CO, and Rick Rose and his wife, Mary, Liberal; two daughters, Sharla Osborn, Canyon, TX, and Victoria Kelley, Joshua Tree, CA; one brother, Tom Cain and wife, Liz, Auburn Hills, MI; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Tammy Naab, one grandson, Trent Gibson, and one granddaughter, Shannan Whetstone.

There will be no public viewing or visitation.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 7th, 2020 at the Believer’s Ministry Church located at 623 S. Sherman Ave. in Liberal.
