Carol J. Cordes

Carol J. Cordes, age 77, passed away Monday morning, October 31, 2022, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

She was born November 21, 1944, at Fowler, Kansas, the daughter of Frank H. and Mary (Kuhl) Bergkamp. As a young girl she attended school in Fowler and later St. Mary of the Plains High School, graduating from Fowler High School in 1962.

On February 8, 1964, she married Larry A. Cordes at Fowler. After their marriage, the couple made their home in Meade, where she owned and operated a floral business and managed several rental properties.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Carol enjoyed sewing and quilting, cooking, painting, floral design & playing games of chance, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Brenner and husband Mitch of Meade; a sister, Janet Rickard and husband Tom of Meade; a grandson, Mason Brenner of Meade; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Larry; a son Matt Cordes; a granddaughter, Molly Anne Brenner; two brothers, Don Bergkamp and Gene Bergkamp; and two sisters, Marilyn Pollard and LaVerne Reich.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Church, Meade. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery at a later date.

The family would welcome memorials to St. John Lutheran Church or the Meade District Hospital in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
