Buddy A. Brixey

Buddy A. Brixey, 82, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away March 22, 2014 at Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Buddy was born May 18, 1931 in Perkins, Oklahoma, the son of Aaron Robert and Ella Hall Brixey. He grew up and attended school in Perkins, graduating from Perkins High School with the Class of 1951. After graduation he attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, Oklahoma until he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served in the military police.

On June 28, 1953 in Brownwood, Texas he was united in marriage to Mava Dell Mathews. Their first home was Neosho, Missouri and in 1954 they moved to Hooker where Buddy farmed with Paul and Sadie Meisel. They continued to farm and ranch until Buddy retired in 1985. Their favorite place to camp was Summit Point, Utah on his family’s homestead about 40 miles from the nearest town. They spent many wonderful days with family and friends there.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hooker and was a former board member; Hooker American Legion, Lions Club, Good Sam’s RV Travel Club, the Et-Al Gang of former class mates, Hooker Senior Citizens and the Domino Bunch. He always enjoyed traveling, flying, camping and fishing but his family was everything to him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robby Brixey; three brothers, Glenn, Harvey Lee and Barney; three sisters, Ruth Fotch, Florence Wiseley and Bonna Faye Short.

Survivors include his wife Dell of the home; two daughters, Dr. Jane Brixey of Abilene, Texas and Teresa and Joe Simpson of Hooker, Oklahoma; one sister, Ora Jane Brixey of Meeker, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Hooker, Oklahoma with Rev. Les Bussell and Rev. Charles Mendenhall officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Hooker, Oklahoma.
