Bruce Robert Looney

Bruce Robert Looney, age 67, passed away early Tuesday morning, January 28, 2025, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

He was born January 24, 1958, at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Robert and Ella Alice Ruby (Bates) Looney. As a young boy he attended the Sunnyside Elementary School and the Dodge City Junior High. He later moved to Ensign where he attended the Ensign High School, graduating in 1976. A longtime area resident, moving to Meade in 2010, he was a truck driver, EMT, and HAMM Radio operator.

He is a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Bruce enjoys HAMM radios, computers, storm spotting, electronics, guns, and spending time with his family and friends.

He married Betty Looney in 1978. The couple later divorced. On January 13, 2006, he married Laura D. Gilcrease at Meade, Kansas. She precedes him in death on May 30, 2017.

He is survived by two daughters, Heather Crites of Quinter, Kansas, and Leah Looney of Meade, Kansas; a stepson, Dustin Terry of Liberal, Kansas; a brother Dave Looney and wife Myrna of Topeka, Kansas; and a sister, Alicia Unruh of Independence, Kansas; two grandchildren, Cierra and Brady Albin; and a great-granddaughter, Aurora

He is preceded in death by his wife Laura, his former wife Betty, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
