Bruce L. Edwards, age 77, passed away Friday morning, June 5, 2020, at his home in Shawnee, Kansas.
He was born October 14, 1942, at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Purn Edward and Evelyn Fay (Padgett) Edwards. As a young boy he attended school in Eads, Colorado, graduating from Eads High School. After his graduation, he joined the United States Navy, serving during the Viet Nam War. After his discharge, he lived in Meade, Kansas, where he worked for Randy’s Supermarket for several years.
In September, 1983, he married Alice Frederick at the United Methodist Church in Meade. After their marriage, the couple lived in Manhattan before moving to Overland Park in 1989 and later to Shawnee, where he worked as a grocery clerk for Queens Price Chopper for many years.
He enjoyed going to the movies, reading, woodworking, cooking, spending time at home and with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Alice of Shawnee; a daughter, Alana Luse of Henderson, Nevada; two stepsons, Ronald Frederick of Texas, and Randall Frederick of Independence, Missouri; a sister, Konda Hollandsworth of rural Meade; and three grandchildren, Ariel Luse, Manny Frederick and Maggie Frederick.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at the First Christian Church, Fowler. In lieu of attending, friends may view the services via Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary’s Facebook page. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
The family would welcome memorials to the Friends of the Johnson County Library or the First Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
